We offer Sound barrier products that will reduce or eliminate unwanted noise. There are many uses for Sound Barriers. They are used in walls, floors and ceilings to stop or reduce noise transmission from one environment to another environment. Sound barrier materials add mass to help reduce noise transfer. By adding the mass loaded vinyl to construction of new walls or existing construction the STC (sound transmission class) is increased which lowers noise transfer from environment to environment. Its like adding another layer of sheetrock in a sense. It adds more mass to the construction. the advantage to using a Sound Barrier such as a flexible noise barrier is that it is only 1/8" thick and has a different density then sheetrock. This is a key component to stopping unwanted noise. The different densities of materials reduce or stop different wave lengths that are essentially noise waves that pass through some materials and will not pass as well through other materials such as concrete, sheetrock, plywood and other commonly used construction materials. Many people believe by adding standard insulation to a wall, floor or ceiling it will stop the noise. It helps a little to add insulation but not enough to make any noticeable difference. If a sound barrier is used in place of insulation on a similar application the noticeable difference is very great and easily recognized as is the wanted result.
